Q-U Students to the Rescue
Just like you have housekeeping duties at your home, the Cheshire Land Trust has a few "honey-do" lists for our properties. One "to-do" is trash pick-up. This past weekend, we had our year-end pick-up at Ives Farm.
Luckily, we had a lot of help!
Quinnipiac University's Greek Life Fraternities and Sororities gave up their Saturday morning to make the rounds on the lower fields, in the woods, along CLT's property that runs alongside the banks and floodplain areas of the Quinnipiac River. We also hit a bit of the roadside along Cheshire Street.
Our collection included a lot of what you would expect ... plastic, food container and wrapper throwaways, bottles and cans. We even have a couple of tires.
Talking to the students, we found out they make their homes in Long Island, Massachusetts, northern and central New Jersey and New York state. Some are advertising and marketing students, others are on a medical science pathway. To have them give up their time to volunteer for the land trust is really appreciated!
