Make a Gift That Makes an Impact

Dear Cheshire Land Trust Friend,

Some of the best of what Cheshire has to offer are those things we should never take for granted.

Scenic vistas, open fields of wildflowers, meadow and forested ridge lines – these are the natural spaces that we love and help draw people to Cheshire.

These beautiful places are also islands of refuge for wildlife to live and raise their own families and are natural resources that help keep our water safe to drink and our air clean to breathe. We are also happy to keep a number of CLT properties open to the public for passive recreation -- for instance, there's lovely views to take in off Prospect Ridge, terrific birdwatching at Fresh Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary and awesome hiking at Brooke Preserve.

These assets are for people to enjoy.

Nature and open space – We know being outside makes us feel better, more grounded and centered.

Unfortunately, these wonderful natural places are disappearing …at a rapid rate.

Since 1969, Cheshire Land Trust has worked to conserve our precious natural resources and important historic vistas. CLT was instrumental in waking up Cheshire to help save Roaring Brook Falls from development. Today, Roaring Brook is an important and cherished town-owned park that brings visitors from all over the state.

Close to 600 acres of land is now permanently protected from development by the Cheshire Land Trust (CLT). These properties include farms, forests, meadows, wildlife sanctuaries and fragile wetland ecosystems.

The gift of land comes to the Cheshire Land Trust in a variety of ways. It might be given by outright title, or by way of conservation easement, or other conveyances. The land may also be purchased by the land trust if sold at a bargain rate, or a seller may give a land trust first right of refusal with a built-in time limit to raise the funds.

We want to be ready for the next opportunity. Open space is finite. The opportunity doesn’t come often and what little open space that is left is going fast.

We need you. The Cheshire Land Trust is made up of neighbors and friends and citizens who join together to make it all happen. And we need YOU more than ever. Financial contributions make it all this possible.

The land trust is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit. We do not receive taxpayer monies and we are not affiliated with the town of Cheshire.

We are asking you to invest in conservation at the grassroots level and feel good that you are making a difference in our community and to know you are preserving our fragile world for people, for wildlife —for today and for generations to come!

Won’t you please give generously!
