The Cheshire Land Trust Wants You on the Pollinator Pathway:

Ways to Help Pollinators in your Yard

The Cheshire Land Trust invites you to a free public presentation on pollinators and native plants at First Congregational Church, at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, February 18.

Join Joanna Giddings and Karen Schnitzer for a community information session on the Pollinator Pathway and Cheshire Land Trust’s efforts to create one locally.

The Pollinator Pathway is a popular, grassroots movement of pollinator-friendly habitats and food sources for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinating insects and wildlife along a series of continuous corridors. Since its inception in 2017 in both CT and New York, more than 85 towns have established Pollinator Pathways through the work of nonprofit groups, municipalities, land trusts and private citizens.

“Native plants and insects are the foundation of our natural world, yet we have reached a point where insect populations are plummeting. We hope to show that everyone can do something to help fight this trend, and the more who do, the better," Said Cheshire Land Trust’s Karen Schnitzer.

The presentation will include information on the critical state of pollinators today and how you can help. Presenters will explain the importance of native plants to native insects and wildlife, as well as suggest ten top native flowers, shrubs and trees to plant in your yard. The Cheshire Land Trust will offer free resource materials to take home. Pollinator Pathway garden medallions will also be available.

First Congregational Church is located at 111 Church Dr., Cheshire, CT 06410, on the church green in the center of Cheshire. Parking is available behind the building.
