CT Trails Day at Ives Woodlands
Cheshire Land Trust hosted a hike on the blue trail at Ives Woodlands June 1st for CT Trails Day. The weather was be-u-tah-ful. The group learned about the woodlands, saw wildflowers and a few spring flowers and stopped to listen to wood frogs and take pics of green frogs. and American bullfrogs. Thanks to everyone who came out (Bonus: the chocolate cookies and fruit gummies were delish!).
The Ives Woodlands blue trail had been closed for more than a year, the victim of multiple downed trees (like everywhere else in the state). Through the work of many volunteers and many work days, the trail was reopened.
Special thanks to the hard work of Nick Motmans, Bill Stanley, Tim Weiland, Jim Mertz, Karen Schnitzer, Ben Motmans, Alan and Nate Houle, Francis Simpatico.(and others I may have overlooked). The yellow to blue trail is now clear from the farmstand entrance on Cheshire Street (east side of the property) through the Right-of-Way (Eversource) and up and out at the Ives Woodlands trail head at N.Pond in the Pondside Development.
We will continue to work on the loop that leads back to the Ives farmstand.
We can always use extra hands. If you'd like to help get the full loop open again, volunteer for a workday with us. Contact us at 203.806.0258 or email@example.com
